Nemesias: It’s time for a garden renaissance

And, although they’re still popular, these little plants punch well above their weight. In our eyes, they definitely deserve to be more widely grown across the UK and Europe.
Yet to be convinced? Here are a few reasons why:

Glorious fragrance
Nemesias are such hard workers when it comes to fragrance. As soon as it’s warm enough, they simply pump their perfume out.
Gardeners will often think of Roses and Honeysuckle when it comes to scented plants, and for good reason. But finding compact, colourful plants that also smell good is harder.
The Nemesias in our portfolio are all bred for their delicious fragrance, revealing gorgeous wafts of vanilla as soon as temperatures reach 12°C. Why not place Nemesias near a lemon-scented rose for the ultimate in sensory gardening temptation for your customers!

Dreamy colour palettes
What’s your colour preference; vibrant brights or soft pastels? Well, Nemesias can do both, and plenty more too. From hot pinks to seductive purples and subtle blushes, the range of Nemesia colours is outstanding. Many feature a distinctive yellow eye, and you can also get bi-coloured petals.
Nemesias also play well with other annuals and bedding plants. Their delicate flowers work well against dark Coleus leaves. Or, for a more dainty look, Nemesias pair beautifully with airy plants, such as compact grasses.

Perfect for pots
In bloom from late spring right through until autumn, Nemesias have a fantastically-long flowering season.
They can be densely planted to provide a real burst of colour and garden interest. This is ideal for today’s gardener, as both time and space are often in short supply. Porch and patio pots, hanging baskets and balcony planters are ideal for Nemesias, and would make gorgeous gift-and-grow containers for retail.

Tough little plants
For bedding plants, Nemesias are surprisingly tolerant. They’re wonderfully low maintenance, and will happily flower their socks off for months without needing to be cut back.
They’re also keen on full sun and free-draining soil, and will tolerate limited watering without becoming droopy or shattering.
And when the weather does turn, you needn’t worry about our Nemesias being spoiled by the rain, as they’ll happily stand up to a summer storm without cracking open or being damaged.
The result? Plants that look great on the shelves (not that they’ll stay there for long!), and continue to please once taken home by your customers.
