Brexit update

Posted in Industry News on 30 September 2016

There have beenξfew tangible examples of progress in the Brexit process since the referendum on June 23rd Рwe seem to be getting more heat than light from politicians. However, we have provided some assistance to civil servants at DEFRA in understanding the potential implications of Brexit for Plant Variety Rights. We have worked with other stakeholders to draw up a list of three possible options for the future and have passed this to DEFRA as well as to other stakeholders. Of course, in the meantime and until the completion of the Brexit process, the UK remains a full member of the European Union. EU Plant Variety Rights continue in force in the UK. We will keep our customers informed as things develop further. However, the CPVO has recently issued a statement on Brexit, which can be found by clicking here. We are pleased by the positive tone of the statement, which we hope augurs well for the discussions and outcome of Brexit.
